I heard through the grapevine that Gabriel slashed himself. The young, tall looker hurt himself purposely. He’s alive, thank goodness. And he’s working again.
Why did Gabriel do that? Was he tired of life? No, not really. Gabriel was upset over a girl. The girl was not just a girl, I heard. The girl was a G.R.O. (guest relations officer) from the top girly bar in Quezon Avenue. The girl was apparently a former regular of Gabriel. They were an item at some point.
Then the G.R.O. one day decided to dump Gabriel. The G.R.O. went to the gay bar and gave drinks to many MDs, Gabriel excluded. The rejection and embarrassment hurt Gabriel so bad that he decided to slash himself.
Gabriel is not the only MD I’ve met who has a self-destructive streak. Lawrence does, too. Lawrence told me that he once purposely drove his car into a tree when he was hurting over a heartache. And that he once punched a wall continuously—yet over another heartbreak.
Lawrence admitted that he does self-destruct over his personal life a lot. And that he sometimes hurts himself purposely in the process.
ALL FOR A GIRL
Luigi told me that he would never do to himself what Gabriel did. Luigi said that only crazy people do that. Good for him. I told him I’ll hold him to his words and don’t he dare enlist my help should he ever self-destruct the way he said he never would.
For me, it is understandable that the young, impoverished MDs will be susceptible to self-destruction brought about by matters of the heart. Romantic endeavors are something the MDs feel they can control compared to the other aspects of their lives. They then feel worse when things fall apart involving their significant others.
However, there really is no valid excuse to hurt oneself and to desecrate one’s body. Not even the loveliest G.R.O. in town is a valid reason.
I certainly hope I hear no more about MDs self-destructing over their love lives.
